Summary
The SHAPE-WB project (Smart Home and Automation for VET in the Western Balkans) is aimed at strengthening the capacity of vocational education and training (VET) systems in the Western Balkans—specifically in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro—through cooperation with partners from the European Union. The project responds to the growing gap between labour market needs and the competences acquired by learners in the field of electrotechnics, particularly in the context of the rapid development of smart homes, automation, and digital technologies.
The overall objective of the project is to improve the quality and relevance of VET by building the capacity of VET institutions and strengthening their links with industry, taking into account the demands of the digital and green transition. The specific objective is to develop and introduce modern, demand-driven training solutions in the field of smart homes and automation, enabling learners to acquire practical and applicable skills.
The project is based on strengthening teacher competences, developing new curricula and teaching materials, and establishing sustainable models of cooperation between education providers and employers. Special emphasis is placed on aligning education with labour market needs and applying innovative learning approaches, including hands-on training and the use of modern technologies.
Through international cooperation and the exchange of experience with partners from Croatia and Spain, the project ensures the transfer of good practices and alignment with European standards. This approach contributes to the development of a modern and flexible VET system capable of responding to labour market needs and supporting the employability and professional development of learners in the field of electrotechnics and smart technologies.
